2013 Opus One, USA, California, Napa, Wine Review

A gorgeous Bordeaux blend from Napa.  It is a blend of 79% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Cabernet Franc, 6% Merlot, 6% Petit Verdot, and 2% Malbec.  Purple in color, ruby at the rim, mostly opaque and bright.  This is still youthful and developing but showing some signs of maturity.  The nose has cassis, blueberries, tobacco, spice and slight char.  Full bodied.  Medium tannins.  Amazing texture.  On the palate, this is complex and deep.  "Bright" cherries, and cassis along with earthiness, spice and a slight "powdered sugar" note.  Long finish.  This kept evolving in the glass all evening.  It worked very well with Arancini in a spicy red pepper dressing.  Drink over the next ten to fifteen years.
