2012 Opus One, USA, California, Napa, Wine Review

This is a proprietary blend of 79% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Cabernet Franc, 6% Petit Verdot, 6% Merlot and 3% Malbec.  Purple at its core, ruby in color, mostly opaque and bright.  The nose is deep with cassis, slight barnyard, dark chocolate, cedar and graphite.  Great, lush texture.  Medium tannins.  On the palate, this is showing nice development and complexity.  Layers of cassis, slight blueberries, forest floor and earth.  Long finish.  Like many 2012's, this has developed quickly and is close to or at maturity.  A very impressive wine that will show better with food.  This worked well with a Mushroom Pizza.
