2023 Honig Sauvignon Blanc Napa Valley, USA, California, WIne Review
This is made from 58% Napa and 42% Lake County grapes. It is a blend of 98% Sauvignon Blanc, 1% Semillon and 1% Muscat. Light green/gold in color, clear and bright. The nose is nice with slight peach, some limes and a bit of grapefruit. Light bodied. Nice texture. Good balance. On the palate, this is easy drinking with no bitterness. Flavors of peach and grapefruit. Nice finish. This drinks easy on its own but is food friend with lighter foods. It went nicely with Spanakopita. Drink over the next year or two.
NV Domaine Chandon Brut, USA, California, Wine Review
Golden in color with a nice mousse of smaller bubbles. The nose is a bit nutty with apples and slight brioche. Medium bodied. Good acidity. On the palate, some apples and slight ginger and toast. Nice finish. No idea on the disgorgement date but I suspect this has been sitting for a while. Still, it was very nice and quite food friendly. It went well with Guacamole and Chips. Drink these as young as possible. A nice value in sparkling wine.

2020 Tenuta Cucco Barolo Serralunga d'Alba, Italy, Piedmont, Wine Review
This is 100% Nebbiolo from the commune of Serralunga d'Alba of Barolo. Bright ruby/burgundy in color with a bit or orange on the rim, mostly clear and bright. The nose is very nice with cherries, tea, slight tar and wild thyme. Medium bodied. Great energy and balance. Firm tannins. On the palate, this has some depth. Flavors of cherries, black cherries, slight tea and char. Long finish. This drinks well on its own but better with food. It would work very well with pasta in a cream and mushroom sauce. Drink over the next ten to twelve years.
2023 Tenuta Cucco Langhe Nebbiolo, Italy, Piedmont, Wine Review
This is 100% Nebbiolo from Piemonte in Italy. Organic. Pale ruby in color, clear and bright. The nose is nice with sour cherries, slight strawberries, and a hint of rose petals. With air, some chalky dustiness comes out. Medium bodied. Medium tannins. A nice backbone of acidity. On the palate, flavors of sour cherries and black cherries with a touch of spice. Moderate finish. This wine really needs food. Pizza would work but it can handle pasta with a (spicy) meat sauce. Drink over the next three to five years.
