Part of the Far Niente wine estates.  Deep ruby in color, mostly clear and bright.  The nose is big with raspberries, cherries, black cherries, spice, cola and slight char.  Medium to full bodied.  Semi-plush texture.  On the palate, this is a big Pinot with plenty of fruit.  Black cherries, raspberries and some char.  Moderate acidity.  Long finish.  This is very nice on its own and will work with bigger foods such a Salmon in a rich cream sauce.  Drink over the next eight to ten years.  The score should go up with some longer term cellaring.

This is a blend of 45% Syrah, 45% Grenache and 10% Mourvedre.  Purple in color with ruby hues, mostly opaque and bright.  The nose is earthy with black cherries, black raspberries, spices, dried lavender and a bit of roasted herbs.  Medium bodied.  Nice texture.  Good acidity.  On the palate, this is drinking well.  Flavors of black cherries, black raspberries, black pepper and spice.  Long finish.  This is nice on its own but better with food.  It worked nicely with Lasagna.  Drink over the next ten to fifteen years.

This is a blend of 78% Napa and 22% Sonoma. It is 91% Sauvignon Blanc and 9% Semillon.  Green/sliver/light gold in color, clear and bright.  The nose has guava, peach, slight minerality, an herbal note and a bit of lime peel.  Medium bodied. Slightly oily texture.  Good acidity.  On the palate, this has some depth.  Tasty with flavors of peach, apple and citrus.  Long finish.  This drinks well on its own and will work well with lighter foods.  It worked nicely with pasta.  Drink over the next few years.

NV Guyot-Choppin Champagne Brut, France, Wine Review

Score:

Grade:

Not a wine I remember having before.  it is quite good if the price is right.  A blend of 60/40 Pinot Meunier and Pinot Noir.  Golden in color, clear and bright with a nice mousse. The nose is serious with green apples, brioche and slight match stick.  Medium bodied.  Good acidity.  On the palate, this is crisp and tasty with apples, minerality and slight char.  Good finish.  This is great on its own and should be very versatile with food.  Try to make sure bottles are recent releases and drink over the next few years.

This is an 80/20 blend of Merlot/Cabernet Franc and very impressive.  Purple in color, opaque and bright.  The nose is expressive with black cherries, tobacco, cedar, spice and char.  Full bodied.  Silky texture.  Great balance.  On the palate, this is delicious with depth and some complexity.  Flavors of black cherries, cherries, tobacco and earth.  Long finish.  This is drinking well now but should improve as it cellars.  Drink over the next twenty years.  great on its own, this will work great with traditional matches such as Lamb Stew or Grilled Steak.

Probably my favorite producer of Chablis that I choose to afford.  This is their basic bottling and it is a tremendous value.  Green/gold in color, clear and bright.  The nose is great with green apples, flint, salinity and slight peach.  Crisp acidity.  Medium bodied.  On the palate, green apples with underlying flint/char.  Long finish.  This is refreshing on its own but would be great with many foods.  It worked wonderfully with various vegan dishes.  Drink over the next seven to ten years.

1964 Château Pavie, France, Bordeaux, St. Emilion, Wine Review

Vintage:

From Magnum.  Consumed at a friends 60th birthday party.  While this was fun, sadly it was pretty close to being DOA.  Brown in color.  No real fruit left.  It was not vinegar but offered little other than a way cool factor.  It was a hot (for the times) vintage that offered ripe Merlots and at age 60, this bottle anyway had nothing left.

2017 Elena Fucci Aglianico del Vulture Titolo, Italy, Basilicata, Vulture, Wine Review

Vintage:

From the arch of Italy's boot, some of the best Aglianico wines come from here.  Purple in color, opaque and bright.  The nose has black cherries, black raspberries, char and spice.  Full bodied.  Medium to firm tannins.  Great balance and acidity.  On the palate, this is drinking well now.  Flavors of  black raspberries and black cherries with underlying char.  Long finish.  This is great on its own but better with food.  Almost anything grilled.  It would work well with grilled squash.  Drink over the nexxt five to eight years.
