2005 Bouchard Père et Fils Beaune 1er Cru Grèves Vigne de L'Enfant Jesus, France, Burgundy, Wine Review

One of my all time favorite vintages of this wine.  At age 19, it is drinking beautifully.  Deep ruby in color with some purple hues, mostly clear and bright.  The nose has black cherries, cherries, cedar, spice with some minerality.  Medium bodied.  Still some light tannins.  Great texture.  Great balance.  On the palate, this is at peak.  Delicious.  Complex.  Flavors of black cherries, raspberries, red currants with spice and underlying char.  Long finish.  This is great on its own but really deserves a spot at the table.  It will work well with heavier food be it Roasted Squash of Beef Bourguignon.  Drink over the next five to ten years.
