Robert Mondavi is a founding father when it comes to the Napa Valley wine industry, and a trip to the winery that bears his name is imperative if you want a well rounded Napa experience. The Spanish mission style architecture, warm wood-themed rooms (complete with fireplaces!), arched doorways and tile floors are a reminder of California’s mission-influenced history, as well as Napa’s mid 20th century resurgence after the dark days of prohibition. Among numerous other rooms that are open to the public, two tasting rooms – LeMarch and the To Kalon -- provide plenty of opportunity to try their regular label and reserve label wines (and purchase lots of food-and-wine-themed merchandise). Members of their wine club enjoy exclusive access to a third club room, and yet another room provides a concierge counter where you can learn about their 10+ themed tours, offered daily or weekly.
