Quixote Winery, adjacent to the historic Stags Leap Winery, is somewhat small and a lot different on the inside than outside.
With colorful Spanish-style architecture, the exterior appears whimsical and fun. Artist and architect Friedensreich Hundertwasser created a festive atmosphere, constructing a property with no straight lines, golden turrets atop the buildings, and grass-and-tree-planted rooftops. In fact, WineCountry.com described Quixote as something out of a Dr. Seuss book. Still, the interior is a lot simpler.
All Quixote wines have twist-tops—which may seem sacrilegious to wine lovers who enjoy the romance of corks—but there’s a solid rationale behind it: corks have the potential to ruin wines. This conscientious approach to win storage coupled with Quixote’s commitment to organic farming suggests the owners really care about both their product and their practices.
