This is a blend of Mourvedre, Carignan, Grenache and Syrah.  This is a quite good expression of Rhone varietals from California.  Deep ruby in color, mostly opaque and bright.  The nose has black raspberries, plums, black pepper and slight nutmeg.  Full bodied.  Medium tannins.  On the palate, this is tasty with bright acidity.  Black raspberries and black cherries with some underlying char.  Black pepper note on the finish.  Drinking well now, this should go another seven to ten years.  Nice on its own, this will work nicely with a good (veggie) Burger.  Nice value.

This was purchased at the winery.  Screw capped.  Light golden in color.  The nose is interesting with red apples, some hazelnuts and slight floral tones.  Medium bodied.  Light tannins.  Slightly oily texture.  On the palate, apples with light minerality.  A bit of almond on the finish.  This is drinking well now and should continue for another five to eight years.  Nice on its own, this will work with sea food or even fried chicken.

When I saw this being opened, I had no hope.  But, it showed well.  Past prime and this was never a great wine (not a good vintage), but a very enjoyable wine.  Garnet in color, mostly clear and bright.  The nose has dried raspberries but a touch of fresh with dried floral notes and spice.  Medium bodied.  Tannins resolved.  Good acidity.  On the palate, raspberry fruit with some depth and complexity.  No off notes.  Good finish.  Way to go!  Drink now if you have this, but at least give it a chance.  It went well with some pasta.

This is a Pinot Noir from the folks who make Schrader.  14.5% abv.  Ruby in color, darker at the core, mostly opaque and bright.  The nose has plums, black cherries, and spice with a nice earthiness.  Medium bodied.  Firm tannins.  On the palate, black cherries and plums with some spice.  This is a huge Pinot with tons of fruit.  Some may find that off putting while others may finally have found a Pinot they love.  It drinks great on its own and will pair for food similar to a Napa Cab (i.e steak, etc.)  Drink over the next ten years.

Apparently, this was purchased at the winery and brought back.  Light golden in color, clear and bright.  The nose is pretty with lychees and some lemons.  Medium bodied, oily texture.  On the palate, this is slightly sweet.  Complex.  Flavors of Pineapple with nice minerality.  Nice acidity.  Good finish.  A very nice wine that is closing in on maturity but still very fresh.  Nice on its own, this will work with lighter foods such as a fruit salad very well.  Drink over the next ten years.

This wine is made in northeast, Ohio with purchased grapes from Red Mountain, WA.  It is a very good Cab and a nice value.  Purple in color with ruby hues, mostly opaque and bright.  The nose has a bit of a smoky quality but also cassis, slight cedar and spice.  Full bodied.  Medium tannins.  Good balance.  On the palate, cassis, slight black cherry and char.  Good finish.  This is not a robust Cab but it does have enough fruit to drink on its own and would work well with a burger.  Drink over the next five to seven years.

I believe these grapes came from California.  Ruby in color, mostly clear and bright.  The nose has cherries and some char.  Light tannins.  A nice backbone of acidity.  On the palate, nice cherry fruit.  This wine is nice on its own but really works better with food.  A bit more fruit forward than say, an Italian Barbera, but certainly not a fruit bomb.  Drink over the next three to five years.

This is a barrel selection of the best barrels of various vineyards and bottle exclusively in 375ml bottles.  Deep ruby in color, mostly clear and bright.  The nose has cherries, sour cherries, slight nutmeg and slight char.  Medium bodied.  Light to medium tannins.  Good acidity.  On the palate, sour cherries, some cherries with a lovely texture.  Good finish.  This could use another five to ten years of cellaring but is enjoyable now.  Drink over the next fifteen years.  Nice on its own, this would work well with grilled chicken breast.

Checking in on a young wine can be fun even if way before peak.  This was consumed and enjoyed over two evenings.  This is a blend of 82% Syrah, 6.7% Mourvèdre, and the rest Petite Sirah and Grenache.  Inky purple in color, opaque and bright.  The nose is great with black raspberries, blueberries, dark chocolate, gravel, black pepper and roasted meats.  Full bodied.  Medium tannins.  Juicy acidity.  On the palate, this is delicious.  Deep but almost monolithic at the point.  Like a wall of flavor.  Black raspberries, blueberries, char, lavender and spice.  Long finish.  At this stage it wil

Grade:

Current Price:
$100.00USD

This wine is half the price of Bevan's single vineyard wines and almost as good.  It is expensive but vis-a-vis the quality it is worth buying a bottle or two.  Purple in color, opaque and shimmering bright.  The nose is great with cassis, leather, cedar and spice.  Full bodied.  Firm but smooth tannins.  On the palate, juicy cassis with some cedar, tobacco and char.  Long finish.  Delicious if young.  This drinks well on its own and would be at home at a Steak House.  Drink over the next twenty years.  It will still improve with good cellaring.
