Named after the 10 different Pinot Noir clones used in the final blend, this current iteration has a softer palate weight than past vintages, yet with a touch more acidity. The lithe fruit notes including strawberry, lingonberry, currant and plum, are balanced out with the mid-palate notes of black cherry, blackberry, a touch of sandalwood, rose water and brown spices. A light aging in French oak barrels, just over half of which were brand new barrels, helps to keep the fruit center stage while the oak, tannins and acidity provide structure. There is a lovely grace to this wine and it makes for an ideal food companion. As with all of Sea Smoke Pinot Noirs, the fruit is all estate and grown on the mountains that separate the Pacific Ocean from the Santa Maria Valley, making it a classic Pinot Noir growing area.
