What separates this from most Chardonnays is not just its subdued Chardonnay qualities, but a driving acidity that provides a comprehensive structure to this wine. Yes, there is lemon chiffon, delicate lime, guava, Asian pear, light resin and a whisper of butterscotch, but there is also a clean, pure quality to this, a minimalist approach to a wine that doesn’t need to over perform. I don’t mean to suggest it’s any kind of lightweight wine, far from it. Its focused flavors mean it will work seamlessly with a variety of foods, from turkey burgers to lobster risotto to even game like duck and lamb. And this all goes back to its comprehensive acidity and unmitigated mild flavors. Much of the reason for this was the whole cluster pressing and barrel fermentation lasting a month. Additionally, there was 18 months of aging in barrel, with a scant portion of those barrels being new, therefore the wine relied on its intrinsic fruit notes and acidity to make its mark. 1,450 cases. ORIGIN: Dundee Hills, Willamette Valley, Oregon. ALCOHOL: 13%
