2022 Bedrock Wine Co. Ode to Lulu Rosé, USA, California, Wine Review

This is Bedrock's interpretation of a Domaine Tempier (Bandol) Rosé made in California. It is a blend of 60% Mourvedre, 35% Grenache and 5% Syrah. Pale pink/orange in color, clear and bright. The nose is nice with strawberries, cherries, wild thyme, and spice. Light to medium bodied. Light tannins. On the palate, this is more than a light Rosé. There is some substance and depth. Flavors of strawberries, slight watermelons and herbal notes. Tasty. I suspect this drinks well for a while, but to be safe, drink over the next few years. Very food friendly, this will work with just about any food. It would be nice with grilled chicken breast.

This is a blend of 54% Syrah, 29% Grenache, 13% Mourvedre, 3% Counoise, and 1% Terret Noir. Ruby in color with some purple hues, mostly clear and bright. The nose has black raspberries, black cherries, cherries, plums and spice. Medium bodied. Juicy acidity. On the palate, this drinks easy. Flavors of black and red raspberries, black and red cherries, plums and spice. Moderate finish. This is nice on its own and very food friendly. A great choice for pizza or burger night. Great value for an everyday drinker.

This is a Rose made in the style of Bandol, that is, a heartier style of Rose. It is 48% Mourvedre. Light ruby/orange in color, clear and bright. The nose is nice with cherries and slight orange notes. On the palate, this is slightly viscous with cherries and a slight red licorice note. Good acidity. Nice finish. A very pleasant rose that will work well on its own or with all sorts of food off the grill. Drink over the next few years.

This is basically the second wine of Esprit de Tablas from Tablas Creek although they make a lot of different wines, not all available without being in their wine club (highly recommended). This sell for around $30 and can often be found at retail shops. It is young and will likely improve a bit over the next few years. Screw capped! Grenache, Syrah, Counoise and Mourvedre. Whereas the Esprit can be compared to a Chateauneuf du Pape, this is more like a better Cotes du Rhone or even a Gigondas. It has a deep ruby color with some purple swirls. Bonterra uses organically grown grapes to make their wines. The wines are very good to great and priced reasonably. Their Rosé is always a favorite. As Memorial Day approaches, this year will be a bit different with Social Distancing still appropriate. Finally, however, we had a nice weather day, and it was a great time to try the latest vintage. The wine is screw topped which is a great thing. This vine is mostly Grenache. It will keep the wine fresher. It has a very pretty color. Sort of a deep, ruby/pink in color. Clear and bright.
