Rhys consistently is producing some of the best Chardonnays anywhere and the Alpine Vineyard is one of them. Light yellow/gold in color with green hues, clear and bright. The nose is enticing with lemon creme, vanilla, chalk/minerality and slight apples notes. Full bodied. Light tannins. Great balance and acidity. On the palate, this is young, and while it certainly will develop, it is so delicious now. Flavors of lemon creme with with minerality and some vanilla in the background. Deep. It unwinds and opens beautifully in the glass. Long finish. Based on other vintages, this should go fifteen more years with no trouble but its worth drinking young, too. Great on its own, this will work with many foods. A nice choice for Fish or Tofu Tacos.
