This is from Apulia, or the heel in Italy's boot.  Made from Nero di Troia grapes.  Ruby in color, mostly clear and shimmering bright.  The nose is very nice with cherries, some black cherries, baking spices, leather and forest floor notes.  Full bodied.  Good acidity.  Light tannins.  On the palate, flavors of cherries, black cherries, some plums with spice and char.  Long finish.  Consumed over three nights, it was great on all nights but best on night two.  It drinks nicely on its own but really needs some food to shine its best (as do most Italian wines).  It would go well with pasta, Orecchiette con le cime di rapa with meat sauce or Spaghetti all'Assassina, would be classic pairings in Apulia.  Drink over the next five to eight years.
