Significantly better than a bottle tried on release (and less expensive, too). This is a Third growth wine according to the 1855 Bordeaux classification but is one that doesn't get a lot of attention these days and can often be found for a reasonable price. Purple in color with a ruby rim, opaque and bright. The nose is nice with cassis, perfume, slight iron notes and spice. Medium bodied. Medium tannins. On the palate, this is showing complexity and depth with flavors of cassis, clay, spice and slight char. Long finish. This is lovely on its own but will go well with a variety of foods. Seared Duck Breast with Mushrooms would be a nice choice. Still showing young, drink over the next ten to twenty years.
