This bottle had been open for at least a bit before I tried it (and was about half filled) which was good as this needs the air.  That said, it opened quickly in my glass and showed nicely.  Purple in color, opaque and bright.  The nose is nice with cassis, coffee grounds, char, spice and slight cigar.  Full bodied.  Firm tannins.  On the palate, this has a tight complexity.  The layers unwind in the glass showing cassis, black cherries, char and slight charred earthiness.  This is drinking well but another few years will help even more.  It is good on its own but better with food.  A nice match would be Steak Tacos.  Drink over the next eight to fifteen years.
