The Pinot Noir focused Cherry Pie label started with the 2007 vintage, and they make a number of Pinots. The San Pablo Bay Block is the first vintage from this particular site and the wine moves into the darker fruits from its more fruit forward other versions. You still get the black cherry, boysenberry, huckleberry and strawberry compote, but there is also integrated oak, wildflowers and cracked peppercorn. Additionally, there is an earthy quality, more reminiscent of Oregon Pinot Noir. Aged in French oak, half of which was new, the wood influence is limited, allowing the dark fruit to come through.
