Light silvery gold in color. The nose is light with slight lemony notes. Good acidity on the palate. Solid lemon/citrus notes. Good finish. A nice lighter styled Chardonnay that will work well at the dinner table. At Under $20, this is a nice value.
Forming a little over 10 years ago, Davis Estates turns out excellent wines based in the Napa Valley. Comprised of 100% merlot, this wine offers rich and concentrated fruit, more compote driven with blackberry, black cherry, blueberry, boysenberry, plum, cocoa powder and a heavy toasting of oak. The oak is a little strong, however it is nonetheless balanced within this wine, having been aged 22 months in 40% new French oak. The results are mild tannins and a rich opulent feel making this extremely enjoyable to drink. 796 cases
This is from golfer Greg Norman's wines releases under his name, this time from Paso Robles, California. The vineyard is/was part of the Penfold's California vineyards. Purple in color, ruby at the rim, opaque and bright. The nose has black raspberries, sandalwood, dried berries, and black pepper. Nice texture. Light tannins. On the palate, this is past prime but still with something to offer. Black raspberry fruit, dried fruits, slight prune and black pepper. Good finish. Drink up. It would be better with food. Grilled meats would be a good pairing.
